Opportunity:

The firm has an immediate need for a Labor and Employment Litigation Associate to join the firm’s expanding Labor and Employment practice and assume a major role in litigation representing private and public entity employers.

The ideal candidate will have 5 to 7 years of substantive experience in management side advice and counsel of California and Federal labor laws, employment litigation with a desire for trial or arbitration experience including: discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims; FLSA and wage and hour claims, including wage and hour class and collective action lawsuits; legal research; drafting motions, pleadings and legal memoranda; taking and defending depositions; managing discovery-related activities; drafting EEOC position statements, Civil Rights Division responses, conducting workplace investigations including drafting investigative reports; draft policies, employee handbooks and separation agreements.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent judgment, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and a flexible and solution-oriented mindset, all while fostering a collaborative and team-oriented environment.

In addition, the successful candidate will have a background in providing advice and counsel to employers on federal and state employment law compliance, including:

  • ADA, FEHA compliance, disability accommodations, and leaves compliance
  • Contingent workforce compliance
  • Experience in labor relations is also advantageous including labor negotiations, grievances and arbitrations
  • Compliance with PERB administered statutes, such as the MMBA, EERA, and HEERA.
  • PERB & NLRB litigation and administrative hearings

Qualified candidates must have excellent academic credentials, outstanding analytical, research and writing skills, a strong work ethic and dedication to superior client service.

Candidates must possess a knowledge base in California employment law, demonstrated ability to work independently, while working in a collaborative, client-focused environment, and excited about growing a practice with other like-minded colleagues.

Compensation and Benefits:

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this position is $185,000 - $225,000 annually. Redwood Public Law will consider a variety of factors in determining final compensation, including other skillsets, qualifications, and experience, among others. Redwood Public Law offers a competitive benefits package, including health, vision, dental, long-term/short-term disability, and 401(k).
